Pictures, voices, and a word with Skyrim

AsheNow's Agents can now make images and video, speak and listen, and, through the new Game Bridge, talk to you inside Skyrim.

October was a big month for AsheNow. Here is what is new in the current development build.

A friendlier way to set up an Agent

Creating an Agent is now a guided walk-through, and the Agent editor is organized into Profile, Brain, Instructions, Abilities, and Advanced. Avatars can be changed any time, not just when an Agent is created.

Choosing a model no longer starts with a wall of options. AsheNow asks first where the Agent should run, then which model, and shows the real price per million tokens. If a model does not support a setting such as temperature or reasoning effort, AsheNow turns it off for you so replies keep working.

Images and video

An Agent can now be set to make chat and text, images, or video. Image Agents paint pictures from a description and can restyle a photo you attach. Video Agents render short clips; they take a few minutes and keep going if you close the chat. Both run through OpenRouter, which bills them per use, and the cost is shown before you choose a model.

You can also attach pictures, audio, and documents for models that can read them, and images, audio, and video now show right in the conversation.

Voice

Every reply has a Listen button, and the microphone in the message box turns speech into text. Alongside OpenRouter’s voices, AsheNow now includes free voices that run offline on your PC, so the text never leaves the computer. More free voices can be added from Settings, and each Agent can have a voice of its own.

The Game Bridge, and Skyrim

The Game Bridge lets a game mod’s characters talk through AsheNow. Each character becomes an Agent with its own conversation, so it remembers you, and its replies come back one sentence at a time with speech. The bridge only answers on your own PC and needs a key you create in Settings.

The first mod to use it is an add-on for Skyrim Special Edition and Anniversary Edition. Look at a character, type ashenow and what you want to say, and they answer in their own voice. It is still in development and not available to download yet. Read more about the Skyrim add-on.

Tighter local security

AsheNow’s local service now answers only AsheNow’s own window. Other programs on the computer can no longer read conversations or use your API keys through it.

What comes next

AsheNow remains in development, with no public download. If you would like to be considered for beta testing, including the Skyrim add-on, join the list and tick the beta box. Invitations are not guaranteed, and no date has been announced.
